As a child surrounded by the most beautiful forests in New England, Mikey McNulty grew up with a camera in his hands. This hobby turned into a passionate career when McNulty graduated from The Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls, MA in 2005.
Upon graduation, McNulty desired to take his camera to the cities of America to capture the lights, shapes, and brilliant colors of the nightlife industry. After photographing his first dj, Randy Boyer of EnMass, he soon collaborated with many other djs and clubs working on artist portraiture, press work, and event coverage. At the young age of only 24, McNulty has personally worked with over 50 djs and covered over 200 events in 14 states and 2 countries. McNulty's nightlife photography is published nationally and internationally monthly in web based and print based formats such as DJ Times Magazine, Promo Only, and more.
Mikey McNulty is the creator of the Vivid Fine Art Series. Vivid is a truly unique & exclusive style of photography, created by using a technique called "shutter drag", which is commonly found in McNulty's nightlife photography. Every Vivid piece is created strictly and exclusively in-camera with the movement of the camera and the variety of light sources in the frame – no image editing program manipulation. This makes each photograph entirely unique and 100% unrepeatable.
The shutter drag technique has been used for years in McNulty's photography, but has been taken to an unprecedented level in the Vivid series. After 5 years of professional photography experience in the entertainment industry and portraiture work, the lights of the finest cities in America have been isolated and permutated to create the Vivid Fine Art series.
